How often does RBI publish new IFSC codes?

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes updated IFSC code lists every 15 days or monthly on its official site. At present, the latest RBI update is available on NEFT page. Note that RBI sometimes takes longer gaps between releases, and there may be a lag between the 'publish date' shown on the site and when the downloadable file actually appears.

How we process RBI Excel files (and ensure quality)

RBI usually uploads IFSC codes as an Excel file. We download the file, validate formats, match entries against existing records, and import the data using in-house tools built for accuracy and speed. We take great care to keep the information correct—but you should use this site for reference only and always confirm details directly with your bank before making any transaction. Note: Once added, we DO NOT delete any IFSC codes.

IFSC codes update history and what we track

We have been updating IFSC codes since 2011 and, from June 2021 onward, we also keep a record of newly added IFSC codes for each RBI release. For every update, we compare RBI’s Excel list with our database, identify additions, and store the Existing vs. Latest counts so you can see exactly what changed over time.

When Indian banks merge, branch IFSC codes can change, causing failed transfers or delays in NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS. Following consolidates authoritative updates so you can confirm the correct, active IFSC for your branch after a merger or amalgamation, check official timelines (announcement, completion, and IFSC code dates). We regularly track bank-merger IFSC updates from NPCI. To avoid confusion, we do not delete legacy IFSC codes; instead, we include a header note indicating when the bank merger was announced, when it was completed, and the dates when new IFSC codes take effect. How is this page updated?

We ingest the official RBI NEFT Excel, validate its schema, and import it into our database. After import, we compute deltas to identify newly added or changed IFSC codes. Before any update goes live, we run a suite of validations—covering new banks and new IFSC codes; IFSC format checks (11-character pattern: 4 letters + 0 + 6 alphanumeric); address normalization; pincode identification from the address; and other consistency checks.

We then refresh this page’s metadata: Update Date, Latest IFSC Codes, Existing IFSC Codes, and Newly Added IFSC Codes. We also maintain bank-merger updates and reflect them in our records.
